WATER
“Reflections At Water’s Edge”
Artist Statement
The origin of my photographic exploration of reflections in water began during moments on a sailboat, surrounded by a seemingly featureless waterscape, I shifted my gaze from the horizon to the water itself. Instead of seeing the water, the reflections of the world around me started to form—captivating glimpses of the unexpected. I discovered an entire world hidden at the water’s edge—a world revealed through reflections. This is where water becomes a canvas for the light, shapes, shadows and colours all around. The elements must align — the wind subdued, the water still or gently rippling, the sun at the precise angle — for the perfect conditions to capture the dance of reflections. I invite viewers to explore the enchanting interplay of form, colour and light, encouraging them to see beyond the surface of the water and witness the world with a renewed sense of wonder. - Anna Parravano
